Activities of the Avebury & District Ploughing association date back to the 1950’s. The exact date of origination is unknown but we are in the process of preparing historical information and hope to update these facts soon.
In the meantime, we have attached match statistics going all the way back to 1964 for those of you who love a stat: APA Statistics 2018.
We have also scanned in recent programmes back to 2000, then every five years until 1965. We also have a copy of the 1959 programme – the oldest we can find – included for your info.
Two years of interest which we also include are 1978 which was a record year with 93 ploughmen entered and 1982 which was the first time that The Wiltshire Championship Cup was included.
